God’s Precious Gift
When he was born, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.
His tiny hand clutched my finger and my heart swelled with
pride.
It was hard to believe he came from me, and I was afraid.
I watched him grow, and I marveled at the things he’d done.
He would be all I couldn’t be . . . he could be President of
this great country.
I still couldn’t believe he came from me, and I was afraid.
My love for this child as he grew to a man multiplied over
the years.
Through all the pains of adolescence and all the mistakes of
motherhood,
Of one thing he was certain, I loved him very much . . .
even though I was afraid.
